Asus PadFone Mini Specs, Features and Photos Leak Ahead of Wednesday ReleaseIt’s round two for Asus this week as the PadFone Mini gears up for its first official appearance in Taiwan – the launch party scheduled to kick off Wednesday. Of course, there’s still plenty of time for leaks and rumors to paint a pretty picture of the thing ahead of its release, with the latest example laying the device bare both inside and out

First comes a nice new picture of the Asus PadFone Mini courtesy of the no-longer elusive Mr. @evleaks himself…tipster extraordinaire. As expected, the image depicts a slightly smaller version of the existing PadFone that we all know and some of us love, along with the docking station that turns the Smartphone into a tablet PC.

In addition, he was also kind enough to add the message “PadFone mini 4.3, 2013” to the post, suggesting the device will run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box and will see its release date before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the folks over at Engadget came through with the goods in terms of specs and features. By way of a Global Certification Forum listing, they were able to share much of the key hardware to expect from the PadFone Mini, which is shaping up to be slightly underwhelming to say the least.

If the report is accurate, the Mini PadFone will sport a 4.3-inch touchscreen that’s good for 540 by 960 resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU and a modest 1GB of RAM. When hooked up with the 7-inch tablet PC docking station, you’ll be looking at the same specs entirely though with a larger 720p HD touchscreen to play with.

They don’t however make any mention of the PadFone Mini’s camera, storage options, battery life, price or release date for buyers here in the US.

Judging by the performance of the Padfone Infinity, it’s unlikely that its smaller sibling will prove to be the success story of the year, but for pure novelty purposes along it’s certainly an intriguing piece of kit.
