Breaking into the United States Top-100 or Top-40 singles charts is an incredible achievement. There’s such spectacular competition from all corners that even coming close is impressive. Suffice to say, getting all the way into the Top-10 is something else entirely.

Right at the top of the pile, you’ll find those who’ve not only cracked the charts, but taken them by storm. Reaching the number-one spot for even a week or two usually means guaranteed fame and fortune on a global basis. That is, unless you’ve already got it. But there’s even a step further ahead than the number-one of any given week or month…how about the number-one song of the entire year?
