Putting to bed the kind of speculation that was already growing tiresome, Radiohead has revealed that the band was indeed asked to write a song for the latest James Bond movie, Spectre. And they did, but for whatever the reason, it wasn’t deemed quite as suitable as Sam Smith’s winning entry.
Thom Yorke finally came clean on it all last night via Twitter, after which he posted the song itself as something of an extra Christmas present for fans.
“Last year we were asked to write a tune for Bond movie Spectre. Yes we were … It didn’t work out,” wrote the enigmatic Radiohead front-man.
“As the year closes we thought you might like to hear it. Merry Christmas. May the force be with you.”
