Rita Ora’s Secret to Sublime Health? Exercise…and a Lot of It!

She’s just released a new album, her acting career is about to take off and she’s even got her own incredibly successful clothing line.  Suffice to say, popstar Rita Ora is riding one serious wave of success right now.

For the April issue of SHAPE magazine, Rita was interviewed and asked directly how on earth she’s managed to fit it all in.  And as far as she’s concerned, none of her success story would have been possible without the right mindset, backed by a conscious and healthy diet and rigorous exercise regime.

“This past year, I’ve really been on my game by eating right and going to the gym,” she told SHAPE.

“As a result, I’m focused now, and I get a lot more done.”

Explaining her attitude to fitness, she stated that a turnaround had been reached in her life when she started looking at exercise as something to be enjoyed, rather than a punishment.  In order to keep in the kind of shape that’s the envy of the world, she hits the gym for approximately 2 hours every day where she focuses on squats, cardio, weightlifting and circuit training.

She admitted that at one time, she used to exercise until it practically made her sick, whereas now she focuses on exercise the health benefits, rather than simply losing weight.

“I didn’t start working out to get skinnier — I started working out to feel better,” she said.

“And I think it’s important for women to know that.”

When she’s not putting her premium home gym through its paces, she’s still focusing on her health and energy levels by making proactive dietary choices.  She talked of staying away from sugar and bred as much as possible, instead focusing on fish, vegetables and lean sources of protein.

“I used to be like, ‘I’m not eating!’” she revealed to SHAPE.

“Eating isn’t the problem, though. It’s about what your body needs, and everyone’s body is different.”

But even with all the commitment in the world, she still can’t resist indulging every now and again -cheese and wine apparently being her biggest vices.

“I indulge once a week,” she said. “But I don’t go crazy.”

“I’m a size 28 in jeans, and that’s an average, normal size. I’m proud that I’m normal.”
